Susan's memories of Christine

Created by Susan one year ago

As a friend said to me recently I remember Christine from her days in New York 40 years ago, I only meet new once at a party  “once meet never forgotten”, a sentiment of many.

Christine was a very good friend to me and was always there when you needed to talk, she was always practical with her advice and did not hold back if she thought you were not ‘on point ‘  but her views delivered with good intentions and affection.

Brave and positive to the end after Nigel passed, Nigel was her partner, husband and best friend for 50 years.

I’m  glad she lived life after his passing in the best and most positive way she could, even in deep grief she spent her time making her house perfect and comfortable. As we said in the 80’s based on a version of a popular song “when the going gets tough the tough go shopping!!”

Her friends were happy that her and Nigel created a new life Norwich successfully and that her neighbours there became such good friends and were so kind to her when she needed them.

A professional designer working across the world in retail and manufacturing of clothing including expertise in knitwear, but could turn her hand to any product.

Very talented designer with a strong sense of knowing what makes a design a commercial success.

Fantastic sense of humour with a wealth of stories in the sometime outrageous fashion industry, fun and hard work were the order of the day.

Christine travelled extensively when the world was less open and you had to be more of a pioneer gong to new places and developing manufacturing routes outside of Europe.

I knew Christine for over 30 years firstly professionally at M&S me as buyer her as supplier, we developed our friendship from there well after our professional relationship. I will miss her and remember her with love and affection.
